Description

In the 14th century, King Charles VI of France sought to demonstrate his power by reconstructing a 12th-century fort into the elegant fortress known as the Chateau de Pierrefonds. By booking this ticket, you will explore one of the best-preserved monuments in Oise. The ticket includes a leaflet in English and other languages, allowing you to visit at your own pace and appreciate the grandeur of each room.

Within the Chateau, you can see various paintings, jewels, and vintage furniture from different historical periods, ranging from the Middle Ages to Napoleon Bonaparte, who frequented the castle. The current appearance of the monument is thanks to architect Viollet-le-Duc, commissioned by Napoleon III.

Some halls in the Chateau have served as locations for shooting films and television series, including The Story of Joan of Arc and The Man in the Iron Mask.

Opening hours

The opening hours of the Chateau de Pierrefonds are as follows:

May 2 - September 4: 9:30 am - 6 pmSeptember 5 - April 30: 10 am - 5:30 pm

On December 24 and 31, the monument closes at 3:30 pm. Last entry is 1 hour before closing time. Hours are subject to change.

Free admission

Admission to the Chateau de Pierrefonds is free for the following individuals:

Youth from the European Union between 18 and 25 years old.Children under 18 years old, regardless of nationality.

To obtain free admission, visit the ticket office with a certifying document of your eligibility. Admission is also free on the first Sunday of the month between January 1 and March 31, November 1 and December 31, and the third weekend of September.
