Description

The Chateau de Pierrefonds was reconstructed in the 14th century under King Charles VI, transforming a partially ruined fort from the 12th century into an elegant fortress. This ticket allows you to explore one of the well-preserved monuments in the Oise department of the Hauts-de-France region. The visit includes a leaflet in English and other languages, enabling a self-paced exploration of the castle.

Inside, you will find various paintings, jewels, and vintage furniture from different periods in French history, including the Middle Ages and the era of Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon III commissioned architect Viollet-le-Duc for the restoration that resulted in the current appearance of the castle.

The Chateau de Pierrefonds has also served as a filming location for television series and films like The Story of Joan of Arc and The Man in the Iron Mask.

The Chateau de Pierrefonds has the following opening hours:

May 2 - September 4: 9:30 am - 6 pmSeptember 5 - April 30: 10 am - 5:30 pm

On December 24 and 31, the monument closes at 3:30 pm. Last entry is 1 hour before closing time. Hours are subject to change.

Free admission

Admission to the Chateau de Pierrefonds is free for:

Youth from the European Union aged 18 to 25.Children under 18 years old, regardless of nationality.

To acquire the free admission, visit the site's ticket office and present a certifying document. Admission is also free on the first Sunday of the month during specific periods and the third weekend of September.
