Description

In the 14th century, King Charles VI of France commissioned the construction of the Chateau de Pierrefonds to showcase his power, transforming a small, ruined fort into an elegant fortress. This ticket allows you to explore one of the best-preserved monuments in the Oise department of the Hauts-de-France region. It includes a leaflet in English and other languages for a self-paced visit, enabling you to admire the grandeur of each room.

Inside, discover a variety of paintings, jewelry, and vintage furniture reflecting different periods of French history, including the Middle Ages and Napoleon Bonaparte's era. Notably, Napoleon III commissioned architect Viollet-le-Duc for its restoration. Additionally, some halls have served as filming locations for TV series and films, including The Story of Joan of Arc and The Man in the Iron Mask.

Opening hours

The Chateau de Pierrefonds is open during the following hours:

May 2 - September 4: 9:30 am - 6 pmSeptember 5 - April 30: 10 am - 5:30 pm

On December 24 and 31, it closes at 3:30 pm, with the last entry one hour before closing. Hours are subject to change.

Free admission

Free admission is available for:

Youth from the EU aged 18 to 25.Children under 18, regardless of nationality.

To obtain free admission, visit the site’s ticket office with a certifying document. Free entry is also available on the first Sunday of each month from January to March and November to December, as well as the third weekend of September.
