On this guided tour of Pietrapertosa, the highest town in Basilicata, we'll uncover its Norman legacy and extensive history.
Pietrapertosa Guided Tour
We'll meet at the time indicated at the bus stop on Via Umberto I to start this guided tour of Pietrapertosa, which is located more than 1,000 metres (3,280 feet) above sea level.
Pietrapertosa is situated in the heart of the Lucanian Dolomites and features fortifications from the Norman period.
The first stop will be the Franciscan Temple, an ancient building constructed in 1474. We'll proceed to the Church of San Giacomo Maggiore and explore the narrow streets of L’Arabata, the oldest neighbourhood in Pietrapertosa.
Afterward, we'll walk up to the old Via dei Portali and the remarkable Angel Flight, offering stunning views of Pietrapertosa and the valley below.
After a total of 2.5 hours, we will conclude the tour back at the meeting point.
