Besalú and Rupit are two of the most beautiful medieval towns in Catalonia. Don't miss them, and the opportunity to tour their bridges and cobbled streets filled with history.
Description
The tour meets first thing in the morning for a journey of one and a half hours to Rupit, one of Catalonia's beautiful towns. Upon arrival, you will have free time to explore the area, including wandering the cobbled streets and observing typical stone houses from the medieval period.
After exploring Rupit, the trip continues with a climb of over 1,000 meters to the Santuario de la Mare de Déu del Far, where you can see the chapel's interior and enjoy spectacular views of Gerona and the surrounding countryside.
Next, the tour visits Besalú, located approximately 50 minutes from the sanctuary. Besalú is noted for its well-preserved medieval architecture, especially the prominent 10th-century fortress. Key sights include the medieval bridge, the Jewish Mikveh, the church of San Pedro de Besalú, and the old Pilgrim's hospital. A complete traditional lunch will be provided before returning to the starting points.
