Velia Archaeological Site Excursion

We will pick you up at your hotel in Pisciotta or at an established meeting point to visit the archaeological site of Velia in Ascea Marina. The site is part of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park.

Upon arrival, we will explore the remains known as Velia to the Romans and Elea to the Greeks. The tour includes a walk through the agora, a space connected to philosophers of the Eleatic school, including Parmenides, Zeno, and Melissus.

Additionally, we will visit the acropolis of Elea and the Tower of Velia, an Angevin construction from the Middle Ages. The site hosts theatrical performances during the summer months.

We will also view the Porta Rosa, the only surviving example of a 4th century Greek arch.

After six hours, we will return you to your hotel in Pisciotta.
