Velia Archaeological Site Excursion
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Pisciotta or at the established meeting point and proceed to the archaeological site of Velia in the municipality of Ascea Marina. This site is part of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park.
Upon arrival, we will visit the remains of Velia, known as Elea to the Greeks. The excursion includes a walk through the agora of Velia, frequented by philosophers from the Eleatic school, such as Parmenides, Zeno, and Melissus.
We will also see the acropolis of Elea and the Tower of Velia, an Angevin construction from the Middle Ages. This site hosts theatrical performances during the summer.
Additionally, we will visit the Porta Rosa, the only example of a 4th century Greek arch and a notable architectural piece of its era.
After six hours, we will return to your hotel in Pisciotta.
