Garifuna Cultural Tour
After picking you up from your hotel in Placencia, we'll head towards the Garifuna village of Seine Bight.
The Garifuna community descends from Arawak, Kalinago, and Afro-Caribbean indigenous groups and is present in several Central American countries, including Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Belize. The Belizean Garifuna are mainly concentrated in Seine Bight, where locals will provide a warm welcome.
While strolling through the village, representatives will discuss the customs, traditions, and culture of the Garifuna people. You will enjoy a traditional lunch featuring dishes from Garifuna gastronomy, which combines African and Caribbean cuisine with ingredients like rice, fish, and corn.
After lunch, we will explore important aspects of Garifuna culture, including their traditional music and dances. Participate in a percussion workshop to learn to play drums, maracas, and other instruments. You may also learn one of the Garifuna's rhythmically choreographed dances.
After the activities, we will say our goodbyes and return to Placencia, arriving back at your hotel by 4 PM.
