Garifuna Cultural Tour
After picking you up from your hotel in Placencia, we'll head to the Garifuna village of Seine Bight.
The Garifuna community descends from Arawak, Kalinago, and Afro-Caribbean indigenous groups. They reside in several Central American countries, including Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Belize, mostly in Seine Bight, where locals will welcome us.
As we walk through the village, some representatives will share insights about the customs, traditions, and culture of the Garifuna people. We will enjoy a traditional lunch with the community, featuring dishes from Garifuna gastronomy that highlight a mix of African and Caribbean cuisine, including rice, fish, and corn.
Post-lunch, we will explore key aspects of Garifuna culture: their traditional music and dances. Attend a percussion workshop to learn about drums, maracas, and other instruments. You can also learn one of the Garifuna's choreographed dances if interested.
We will then return to Placencia, arriving back at your hotel by 4 pm.
