On this guided tour of Plovdiv, we'll discover the corners and history of one of the oldest cities in Bulgaria.

Tour Details

After meeting at the appointed time in front of the Ramada Hotel, we'll start touring the old town of Plovdiv. First, we'll visit the ruins of the Roman Stadium of Philippopolis and the Roman Theater, discussing structures dating back to the 1st and 2nd centuries.

Next, we'll head towards Saborna Street to the church of St. Constantine and St. Helena. From there, we will pass by Krastev Square or Lapidarium to see the Hindliyan and Balabanov houses, focusing on their facades and owners.

Our tour continues to the Armenian Catholic Church and the statue of the Great Tattletale. We'll then visit the Ethnographic Museum and walk to the top of Nebet Tepe to learn about Plovdiv’s oldest history.

We will explore the medieval Hisar Kapia Gate and proceed to the Muslim temple of Puldin and the houses of Lamartine and Klianti, key examples of the Bulgarian Renaissance.

Finally, we'll visit the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary of Plovdiv and the Djumaya Mosque before concluding our 2-hour guided tour.
