On this guided tour of Plovdiv, we'll discover the corners and history of one of the oldest cities in Bulgaria.
Tour Details
After meeting at the appointed time in front of the Ramada Hotel, we'll start touring the old town of Plovdiv. We will visit the Roman Stadium of Philippopolis and the Roman Theater, discussing their structures from the 1st and 2nd centuries, focusing on the periods of Domitian and Hadrian.
Next, we will head to Saborna Street to see the church of St. Constantine and St. Helena. We will then pass by Krastev Square or Lapidarium to view the Hindliyan and Balabanov houses, examining their facades and historical significance.
We will proceed to the Armenian Catholic Church and the statue of the Great Tattletale before reaching the Ethnographic Museum and hiking uphill to Nebet Tepe to learn about Plovdiv's oldest history.
Afterward, we’ll discover the medieval Hisar Kapia Gate and the Muslim temple of Puldin, along with the houses of Lamartine and Klianti, significant examples of the Bulgarian Renaissance.
Finally, we will visit the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary of Plovdiv and the Djumaya Mosque to gain insight into the city’s religious traditions, concluding our 2-hour guided tour.
