On this guided tour of Plovdiv, we'll discover the corners and history of one of the oldest cities in Bulgaria.
Tour Details
After meeting at the appointed time in front of the Ramada Hotel, we'll start touring the old town of Plovdiv. Our first stop will be the ruins of the Roman Stadium of Philippopolis and the Roman Theater, where we will discuss structures dating back to the 1st and 2nd centuries.
Next, we will head to Saborna Street to visit the church of St. Constantine and St. Helena. Afterward, we will pass by Krastev Square or Lapidarium to see the Hindliyan and Balabanov houses.
Following this, we will explore the Armenian Catholic Church and the statue of the Great Tattletale. Our next destination will be the Ethnographic Museum and then walk to the top of Nebet Tepe to learn about the oldest history of Plovdiv.
Afterward, we will visit the medieval Hisar Kapia Gate, followed by the Muslim temple of Puldin and the houses of Lamartine and Klianti, examples of the Bulgarian Renaissance.
Finally, we will conclude the tour at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary of Plovdiv and the Djumaya Mosque, to learn more about the religious traditions of the city. The tour will last for 2 hours.
