Dive into the history of one of the most fascinating cities of the ancient Roman Empire on this excursion to the Herculaneum ruins.
Herculaneum Ruins Excursion
We'll pick you up at your hotel or at your selected meeting point, at the indicated time and set off for the archaeological site of Herculaneum, one of the three Roman cities buried by the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. During this adventure, we will explore the cobblestone streets, houses, and thermal complexes that survived the pyroclastic flow of the volcano, including a gymnasium.
As we visit, we will examine the well-preserved materials and facades, discussing artistic styles and construction techniques of the era. Highlights include the Hall of the Augustals, the baths, the House of Aristides and Neptune, the Samnite House, and the beach where many perished.
After the tour, you will have free time to rest or eat before we return to the starting point after 2 hours of hiking.
