Want to explore one of the most beautiful areas of the province of León? On this tour through the Tebaida berciana, we'll visit the monastery of Montes de Valdueza and the village of Peñalba de Santiago!

Tebaida Berciana Tour

The Tebaida berciana is an area of the province of León with great historical and natural value that was declared a Picturesque Landscape and an Asset of Cultural Interest. To begin the tour, we'll meet at the indicated time in the parking lot of Montes de Valdueza.

First, we'll visit the monastery of San Pedro de Montes, founded by San Fructuoso in the 7th century. The monastery features notable rooms such as the kitchen, the abbot's quarters, and the church.

After the monastery, we'll head to Peñalba de Santiago (you'll follow the guide in your own car). After a 15-minute drive, we'll reach this small village, renowned for its charm.

The tour of Peñalba begins at the Mozarabic church, followed by a walk through the cobbled streets of the village, observing typical houses with slate roofs.

After exploring the Tebaida berciana for 2.5 hours, we'll conclude the tour at the viewpoint of Peñalba de Santiago.

Closing of Monuments

For those on the tour on Sundays at 4 pm, please note that the church of Peñalba de Santiago will be closed. In this case, we'll admire the church's exterior architecture while discussing its history.
