Day Trip Overview

Our adventure begins at Avenida João Bosco Mota Amaral in the vibrant capital of São Miguel, Ponta Delgada. From there, we will journey along the scenic southern coastline of the island. Our first destination is the delightful coastal town of Vila Franca do Campo, where we can view the impressive Islet of Vila Franco do Campo, a significant volcanic caldera just offshore.

As we continue our journey inland, the landscape is shaped by the island's rich volcanic activity. We will explore the calderas and lagoons of Furnas, delving into the fascinating formation of different volcanic vents.

After expanding our volcanic knowledge, we will enjoy a traditional meal at a local restaurant to recharge. Once we have savoured our lunch, our itinerary will take us north to the renowned Gorreana tea plantations, one of the most celebrated tea producers in the Azores. Here, we will sample some of their exquisite teas, relishing the delightful aromas and subtle sweetness they offer. To conclude our day, we will return to Ponta Delgada.
