Furnas Day Trip + Gorreana Tea Plantations

Description

We will meet on Avenida João Bosco Mota Amaral in Ponta Delgada and set off along the southern coastline of the island. Our first stop will be the coastal town of Vila Franca do Campo, where we can admire the Islet of Vila Franco do Campo, a large volcanic caldera just off the coast.

Continuing inland, we will explore the landscapes shaped by volcanic activity. We'll visit the calderas and lagoon of Furnas, learning about the origins of various volcanic vents.

After gaining insight into volcanic features, we will enjoy a traditional lunch at a nearby restaurant. Post-lunch, our next destination will be the Gorreana tea plantations, one of the Azores Island's notable tea manufacturers. Here, we will sample their renowned teas, which offer delightful aromas and a hint of sweetness. Finally, we will return to Ponta Delgada.
