Sete Cidades and Lagoa do Fogo

We'll meet up at Avenida João Bosco Mota Amaral and head out of Ponta Delgada. Our first destination will be the Lagoa do Fogo lagoon, a natural treasure of the Azores known as a crater lake. While learning about the formation of this volcanic geography, we will admire the views of the lagoon and its surroundings. Local authorities prohibit construction in the area to maintain its beauty.

After exploring Lagoa do Fogo from several viewpoints, we will continue to the northwest of the island to visit the Sete Cidades lagoon and crater, whose name means seven cities. The Lagoa das Sete Cidades is divided into two halves: the Blue Lagoon and the Green Lagoon. We will cross the bridge connecting both halves to appreciate the contrasting colors.

We will take a break for a buffet lunch at a local restaurant to experience the island's cuisine. After lunch, we will return along the southwestern coastline back to Ponta Delgada.
