The Puracé volcano is renowned in Colombia as a prime location for condor observation. This excursion allows you to witness the majestic glide of these remarkable birds while enjoying the renowned San Juan hot springs.

Puracé Condor Observation with San Juan Hot Springs Experience

Your day begins at 7:40 am, when we will meet you at your accommodation in Popayán for a journey to the Puracé National Natural Park. Nestled in the central mountain range of Colombia, we'll embark on an ascent through the various indigenous communities in the area. During this segment, you'll admire the picturesque fields of potatoes, carrots, and strawberries, as well as observe the traditional morning milk extraction methods employed by local farmers and indigenous residents. The spectacular vistas of the western mountain range will also come into view.

By 10 am, we'll reach the celebrated condor stone, where a special offering will be made. Here, with a perspective as close as 8 meters (26 feet), we'll spend at least an hour observing the majestic Andean condors.

The striking display of these iconic birds, symbolic of the Andes, will captivate us before we move on through the frailejón valley, home to a unique plant species native to Colombia, known to grow at a rate of one centimeter annually.

Continuing along our path, we will pass the scenic Bedón waterfall at an elevation of 3600 meters (11811 feet) and take in views from the lookout point overlooking the Andulbio lagoon, recognized for its serene beauty.

Our route will then lead us to the enchanting Pozo de los Deseos situated in the Danta watering place, ultimately arriving at the highlight of our day—the thermal baths of San Juan.

In the latter part of the excursion, enjoy a moment of relaxation in this stunning natural setting. Following the soak, we'll indulge in a typical local lunch at a nearby restaurant. The meal features options of grilled fish or meat, complemented by rice, salad, soup, patacones—crispy twice-fried plantain slices—and a refreshing hot drink.

After lunch, we will return to Popayán, with an anticipated arrival time of 6 pm back at your hotel.
