Embark on a day trip to Silvia, where the lush green scenery known as the 'Switzerland of America' awaits you. This journey will also lead us to a Misak community, offering insights into their unique traditions.
Tour Overview
Your adventure begins with pickup from your hotel in Popayán, followed by a scenic drive north through the Cauca department. In approximately 1.5 hours, we will reach Silvia, nestled within a beautiful valley of Colombia's Cordillera Central.
As you approach this municipality, the vibrant green landscapes will instantly captivate you, earning its reputation as the 'Switzerland of America'. We will embark on a guided exploration of Silvia, where you'll discover notable sites such as the welcome sign, the Nuestra Señora de Chiquinquirá parish church, and the Belén viewpoint, providing a stunning panorama of the area. If your visit falls on a Tuesday, we will also explore the indigenous market, a lively hub of cultural interaction and trade.
As noon arrives, you'll enjoy a traditional lunch featuring options like fish, meat, or grilled chicken, complemented by delicious side dishes and a refreshing drink.
After our meal, we will head towards the Guambia region, where we will visit Casa Payán, a key establishment dedicated to the preservation of ancestral medicine. Here, you will learn about the use of local medicinal plants, their preparation, and their therapeutic benefits. Additionally, we will take a stroll through a botanical garden featuring medicinal and ancestral plants, while gaining knowledge about the Misak cosmovision and their deep connection with nature.
Our journey will conclude as we make our way back to Popayán, with an estimated return to your hotel after approximately 7 hours.
