Jesuit Missions 2-Day Tour

Day 1: Santa Cruz - San Javier - Concepción

At 7:30 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Santa Cruz de la Sierra for a 136-mile (220-kilometre) journey to San Javier. On the way, we will pass through villages such as Cotoca, Pailas, Pailón, and Troncos. Upon arrival, we will visit the mission church, the first mission founded by the Jesuits.

We will discuss the history of the Jesuit Missions, which were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the 1990s. After this, we will have a typical lunch consisting of a starter and a main course. Following lunch, we will travel to Concepción, where you will have free time to explore the town and attend a mass before dinner.

Day 2: Concepción - Calama - Santa Cruz

On the second day, at 8:30 am, we will have breakfast and then hike to the Calama Stone, approximately 20 minutes away. We will enjoy views of the Chiquitano Valley before returning to Concepción to visit the local church and its 18th-century missionary museum, which features carvings made by the Chiquitanos.

After lunch, we will head back to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, with stops at the Paquio stones to observe buffaloes and at San Javier to stretch our legs. You will be dropped off at your hotel in Santa Cruz at 7 pm.
