Jesuit Missions Day Trip
Booking options include two different itineraries, both featuring hotel pickup in Santa Cruz de la Sierra and lasting 13 hours.
San Javier & Concepción Day Trip
After a 7 am pickup, we will travel through the villages of Cotoca, Pailas, Paillón, and Los Troncos, significant to the Bolivian Jesuit Missions. These missions were established at the end of the 17th century to evangelize New World territories and remain largely intact today. Bolivia is home to six towns designated as World Heritage Sites.
We will arrive at San Javier around 11:30 am, the oldest mission in Bolivia, founded in 1691. This visit includes the Mission Museum. Following this, we will head to Concepción for a traditional lunch and explore this 18th-century site, including local arts and crafts workshops maintained by the Chiquitanos.
San José Day Trip
At 7:30 am, we will depart for the Jesuit Mission of San José. After a 4-hour scenic drive, we will tour the church and museum. We will enjoy a traditional meal before visiting Santa Cruz la Vieja. A stop at a viewpoint will offer stunning views of the Chiquitano Valley, and the day will conclude at a local handicraft center to learn about the residents' work.
