Discover one of the most famous Bolivian archaeological sites on our Samaipata 2 Day Trip from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, exploring a historic place at the foot of the Bolivian Andes and a charming town.

Samaipata 2 Day Trip

Day 1: Santa Cruz - Samaipata

At 8 am, pickup from your hotel will begin as we set off west towards Samaipata. Enjoy views of the rugged Bolivian plains and small villages along the way.

We'll stop at Cuevas to see some of the region's beautiful waterfalls, where you'll have time for lunch. Then, we continue to Fort Samaipata, whose name means "rest between mountains" in Quechua, featuring pre-Columbian ruins nestled in the mountains.

We'll visit the archaeological complex of Samaipata, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998, and learn about its history as it was inhabited by three different civilizations. The day concludes with an overnight stay in the town of Samaipata.

Day 2: Samaipata - Santa Cruz

After breakfast, we'll explore Samaipata, founded by Spanish settlers in 1618 due to its strategic location. You'll learn about the town's history, including its significance in Che Guevara's guerilla campaign.

Next, we visit the Archaeological Museum of Samaipata, a colonial-style building showcasing ceramics and artifacts from the fort excavations.

After two days, we'll return to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, dropping you back at your hotel around 6 pm.
