Samaipata 2 Day Trip

Day 1: Santa Cruz - Samaipata

At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel and set off west from Santa Cruz de la Sierra towards Samaipata. On the way, you'll enjoy views of the rugged Bolivian plains dotted with small villages.

Before reaching our destination, we'll stop at Cuevas, known for its beautiful waterfalls, where you'll have lunch on your own before continuing to Fort Samaipata. This archaeological site, meaning "rest between mountains" in Quechua, hosts pre-Columbian ruins nestled in the mountains.

We'll visit the archaeological complex of Samaipata, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998, and explore its stone-carved buildings. This site has been inhabited by three different civilizations. After the tour, we'll head to the town of Samaipata for overnight accommodation.

Day 2: Samaipata - Santa Cruz

After breakfast, we'll explore Samaipata, founded by Spanish settlers in 1618 due to its strategic location between Santa Cruz and Vallegrande. We'll learn about the town's history, including its role in Che Guevara's guerilla campaign in Bolivia.

Next, we'll visit the Archaeological Museum of Samaipata, featuring ceramics, statuettes, and other objects found during fort excavations.

After 2 days, we'll return to Santa Cruz de la Sierra and drop you back at your hotel around 6 pm.
