Samaipata 2 Day Trip

Day 1: Santa Cruz - Samaipata

At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel and set off west from Santa Cruz de la Sierra towards Samaipata. On the way, you'll enjoy views of the rugged Bolivian plains and small villages.

Before reaching our destination, we'll stop at Cuevas, known for its beautiful waterfalls. Here, you'll be able to have lunch on your own before continuing to Fort Samaipata. The name "rest between mountains" in Quechua describes these pre-Columbian ruins nestled in the mountains.

We'll visit the archaeological complex of Samaipata, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998, and explore its stone-carved buildings. This site has been inhabited by three different civilizations. After the tour, we'll go to the town of Samaipata where we'll spend the night.

Day 2: Samaipata - Santa Cruz

After breakfast, we'll visit Samaipata, founded by Spanish settlers in 1618 due to its strategic location. During our visit, we'll learn about the town's history, including its role in Che Guevara's guerilla campaign in Bolivia.

Next, we'll visit the Archaeological Museum of Samaipata, a colonial-style building housing ceramics, statuettes, and other objects found during excavations of the fort.

After 2 unforgettable days, we'll return to Santa Cruz de la Sierra and drop you back at your hotel at around 6 pm.
