Description
More than 30 years ago, a volcano violently erupted in the southeast of Washington State, destroying everything in its path. Mount Saint Helens is an exceptional geological site, only 80 kilometers (50 miles) from Portland. Want to find out more? Let's go!
At the designated time, we'll meet at 523 NE 19th Avenue, and we'll head to Mount Saint Helens. During our journey, we'll explain the geological curiosities characteristic of this area, such as the May 18, 1980 eruption.
Upon arrival, we'll hike along one of the most outstanding routes in Mount Saint Helens, passing waterfalls, lava caves, and forests. The largest lava cave in North America can be found here.
If time allows, we'll visit the closest viewpoint to the volcano crater, providing insights into this stratovolcano's activity. A picnic-style lunch will be enjoyed next to Spirit Lake.
Afterwards, we'll continue exploring the areas surrounding Mount Saint Helens. Finally, we'll return to Portland, stopping at a bar for drinks or snacks if desired.
After 12 hours, the day trip will conclude at the initial meeting point.
