On this trip to Amarante, you'll discover one of the greatest jewels in the North of Portugal. Culture, architecture, and history await you.

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at Rua do Dr Ferreira da Silva de Oporto and head towards Amarante, renowned for its artistic, cultural, and architectural significance. Located 60 kilometers (37 miles) from Porto, Amarante lies in the great Serra do Marão above the Tâmega River, the longest tributary of the Duero. Landscapes viewed from the city’s viewpoint will enhance the remainder of the tour.

We will explore the streets and see the picturesque houses along both banks of the river. The tour includes learning about the community’s resistance during Napoleon’s invasion in the early 19th century.

Key attractions include the São Gonçalo Bridge and Monastery, both named after the same saint, reflecting the city’s dedication to him.

After enjoying Amarante, we will return to Porto, concluding the trip after 8 hours.
