On this tour, we'll visit Santiago de Compostela, a historic site of pilgrimage, and Valença do Minho, a town on the border between Portugal and Spain.
Description
After pick-up at the San Bento train station, we travel through the Minho region into Spain.
Our first stop is Santiago de Compostela, a major religious center in Spain and a key point on the "Camino de Santiago." We will visit the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral, an important example of romantic architecture that is believed to house the remains of St. James the Apostle. Although parts of the cathedral are under construction, it remains a key attraction.
You will have free time for lunch and to explore the historic center, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or shop for souvenirs.
In the afternoon, we depart Santiago for Valença do Minho, where you will enjoy free time to explore its fortress, featuring two towers and a double wall, reflecting 17th- and 18th-century military architecture.
We will conclude the tour at Rua de Alexandre Herculano after a total of 9 hours.
