Douro Region Full-Day Trip

Get to know the fertile banks of the Douro on this tour of the striking areas of Amarante and Pinhão. Discover the charming landscapes of this world-class wine-producing region.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at Calçada da Vandoma, next to Porto Cathedral, and head to the old city of Amarante, where we'll discover its beautiful historic centre, as well as the stone 'St. Peter's Bridge', the symbol of the region.

The next stop will be Galafura, in the heart of the valley, providing incredible views of the entire region. Then, to discover the local gastronomy, we'll eat in a traditional restaurant and of course, during the meal, you can sample some of the famous region's finest wines. Please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary requirements.

We'll continue our tour at Quinta da Roêda, or another similar vineyard/wine cellar. Here, we'll sample some of their exquisite wines and learn about the different nuances in the flavors. Did you know that the Douro region was the first demarcated wine region in the world? It's also considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an irrefutable title to anyone who's laid eyes on its beautiful landscapes.

Before returning, we'll embark on a cruise to discover the Pinhão region from the water. The views from the boat are truly unmissable.

After a total of 9 hours, we'll conclude the tour by returning to Porto. We'll drop you off at the following point in the city: Rua de Alexandre Herculano, 4000-053, a few metres from Praça da Batalha.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The experience begins with a meeting at Calçada da Vandoma at the specified time. After departing from Porto, we will visit the historic centre of Amarante, highlighting key sights such as St. Peter's Bridge.

You will enjoy breathtaking views at Galafura before indulging in a local meal at a traditional restaurant where regional wines can be sampled. Make sure to communicate any dietary restrictions beforehand.

Next, the tour will guide you to Quinta da Roêda or a comparable vineyard for wine tasting, where you will learn about the intricacies of Douro wines.

Before concluding the tour with a scenic river cruise in the Pinhão region, you will be treated to a unique perspective of its landscapes.
