Tour Overview

We’ll gather at Rua de Passos Manuel at the designated start time for a stroll through Porto’s historic center. Are you ready to uncover the charms of one of Portugal’s most captivating cities?

The journey begins at the Porto Cathedral, a vital and ancient monument within the city. We’ll observe its grand façade and delve into its medieval roots while taking in panoramic views of the historic district and the serene Douro River.

Our next destination is São Bento Station, renowned as one of the most aesthetically pleasing train stations in Europe. Here, we will admire the exquisite blue and white tile murals that depict significant events from Portuguese history, ranging from royal occasions to everyday activities.

We will then approach the Clérigos Tower, an emblematic structure of Porto. As we circumnavigate the building, information about its baroque design and its longstanding prominence in the city’s skyline will be shared.

A brief walk will take us to the celebrated Lello Bookshop. From our vantage point outside, we’ll learn of its storied past, recognized for breathtaking architecture and often associated with the enchanting atmosphere inspiring elements of the Harry Potter series.

Continuing, we will pass through Praça da Liberdade and walk along Avenida dos Aliados, two of Porto’s most stylish and vibrant locales. Amidst the beautiful historic structures and lively cafés, we will discuss the city’s social and political backdrop while experiencing the contemporary pulse of Porto.

Our exploration leads us to the Church of São Francisco. We will appreciate its Gothic design from the outside and discover details about its renowned baroque interior, alongside the historic catacombs situated below the church.

We’ll conclude our tour at the impressive Palácio da Bolsa, an architectural gem from the 19th century that served as the former stock exchange of the city. Here, we’ll investigate its architectural significance and its role in Porto’s commercial evolution.

At the end of this enriching 3-hour journey, we’ll bid farewell as our tour reaches its final destination.
