Do you know about the legacy of Jesuits in South America? On this tour through the Jesuit ruins of Misiones, we'll visit the ancient reductions of Santa Ana, Nuestra Señora de Loreto and San Ignacio Miní.
Tour Details
At the indicated time, you'll be picked up at your hotel in Posadas for a tour of the Jesuit ruins in the province of Misiones.
The first stop will be at the Jesuit reduction of Nuestra Señora de Santa Ana, founded in 1633. Here, we'll discuss the legacy of the Jesuits, who were expelled from South America by King Carlos III of Spain in 1767.
Next, we'll visit the Jesuit reduction of Nuestra Señora de Loreto, established in 1610. In this mission, we'll explore how the Jesuits used the printing press to spread their messages.
Finally, we will go to the city of San Ignacio, where we'll visit the San Ignacio Miní reduction to learn about its founding father, the Jesuit Roque González de Santa Cruz, from 1611.
After visiting this last mission, we'll return to Posadas, arriving at the initial meeting point 6 hours after pickup.
