Pompeii & Vesuvius Day Trip

The best way to understand what happened to Pompeii in August 79 AD is to visit Mount Vesuvius. Seeing the enormous crater of this dangerous volcano provides insight into the destruction it caused, burying over a thousand people and an entire town alive.

After a hotel pickup in Positano, you'll begin your day trip to Pompeii. Arriving at the archaeological site, your expert guide will highlight typical houses, workshops, and kitchens preserved under volcanic ash. The detail of this snapshot of ancient life is remarkable, featuring even wooden objects and distorted human bodies.

Next, you'll head towards Mount Vesuvius, the volcano associated with immense destruction, following the legendary hero Hercules. You'll hear the myth of his journey to Vesuvius and determine what you believe to be true.

Climbing to the summit of Mount Vesuvius, you will see traces of lava from its last eruption, and from the peak, enjoy panoramic views over the Gulf of Naples. A truly unforgettable sight!

At around 4.30 pm, you'll be dropped back off at your hotel in Positano.
