Mysterious caves, rocky canyon landscapes and pre-Columbian remains await you on this 2-day tour around Potosi.
Day 1
We'll meet at 8 am in front of the Potosí Mint. Our first destination, about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) outside the city, is a silver smelter to learn about Potosí's mining tradition and historic silver processing machines. Next, we'll visit the Devil's Cave, steeped in legend.
Following this, we will explore the Cayara hacienda and its house museum, adorned with murals, and the Cayara tunnels related to a hydroelectric plant financed by Frenchman Luis Soux for early public lighting in Potosí.
After lunch, we will visit the Chiracoro lime kilns to learn about lime treatments and conclude the day at Chocko Chocko hill, featuring an archaeological site. We will camp at Jatun Pampa by a river.
Day 2
After breakfast, we will visit the Valley of Rocks for its geological formations and canyons inhabited by pumas.
Our next stop will be the Chiracoro waterfalls, where we can observe artisanal fishermen before breaking for lunch. We will commence our return journey to Potosí, arriving around 4 pm.
