Caracoles Mine Tour
At the selected time, we'll meet in front of the National Mint of Bolivia to begin this adventure through one of the working mines of Potosí.
We'll take a bus to the outskirts of the city, specifically to Cerro Rico, the most important silver deposit in the world. It was here that, during colonial times, most of the silver was extracted, which helped to enrich the Spanish Empire.
We'll put on our safety equipment and visit the mining market and the chemical laboratory where the minerals are analyzed and classified.
We'll then climb the hill, stopping at a viewpoint to enjoy the views of Potosí. We will then enter the famous Caracoles mine, one of the few mines still active from colonial times.
Upon entry, we'll be welcomed by Tío, the miners' protector. Afterwards, we will walk for two hours through the tunnels, passing by miners at work.
After a four-hour tour, we will return to the starting point in Potosí.
