Caracoles Mine Tour
At the selected time, we'll meet in front of the National Mint of Bolivia to begin this tour of one of the working mines of Potosí.
We'll take a bus to the outskirts of the city, specifically to Cerro Rico, the main silver deposit in the world, where most of the silver was extracted during colonial times, enriching the Spanish Empire.
We'll put on our safety equipment and visit the mining market and the chemical laboratory for mineral analysis and classification.
We'll then ascend the hill, stopping for views of Potosí before entering the Caracoles mine, one of the few active mines from colonial times.
Upon entry, we'll meet Tío, the miners' protector, and then walk for two hours through the tunnels, seeing miners at work.
After a four-hour tour, we'll return to the starting point in Potosí.
