Complete Potosí Tour
At 9 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel and set off on our complete Potosí tour. We'll spend the day visiting the main attractions of this historic city, also known as the Villa Imperial.
To kick off our tour, we'll explore the origin of Potosí's wealth during the colonial period, focusing on the mines of Cerro Rico mountain and the mining market. The Spanish extracted large quantities of silver from these mines which contributed to the crown's wealth.
Today, minerals such as tin and zinc continue to be extracted. During our visit, we'll enter these mines and see the iconic figure of El Tío, who, according to legend, protects the miners.
After the mines, we'll have a traditional lunch, which includes a starter, a main course, and a drink.
Once we've eaten, we'll visit the National Mint of Bolivia. The construction of this building was first proposed in the 16th century to produce coins from the silver extracted from the mines. This building preserves its colonial architecture and features a beautiful porticoed courtyard.
Next, we'll go to the old town and discuss key events that took place in the squares as we stroll through the streets. We'll pause at San Francisco Church and head inside to view the sacred works of art it houses.
We'll then finish our tour and return to your hotel, arriving by 5 pm.
