Kari Kari Lagoons Hike
The tour starts at 8:45 am at Ayacucho Street in Potosí. Participants will board a bus that departs from the city center, observing the changing architecture as they approach the mountains.
Along the way, the group will view the refining plants for minerals extracted from local mines. Upon arrival, a 15-minute ascent will lead to the Kari Kari lagoons: San Ildefonso, Chalviri, San Rafael, and San Pablo, established in the 16th century.
Participants will enjoy views of the slopes, including Cerro Rico, and encounter Andean flora and fauna. The hike continues to the mountain's summit at an altitude of 5000 kilometers, where a picnic lunch will be taken at the Apacheta viewpoint, offering panoramic views of Potosí.
The descent will begin after lunch, and transport will return the group to Potosí, concluding the tour at 4 pm.
Add an extra day
This option allows participants to stay overnight at the home of a traditional Apacheta family after dinner, which includes soup and a main course. The following morning, breakfast will be served at dawn before continuing the hike to the Chaqui hot springs.
Visitors will enjoy therapeutic waters and a two-course lunch before transportation returns them to Potosí, with an expected arrival time of 3 pm.
