Melgarejo Trail Hike
Our adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Potosí at 8 am, after which we will travel to the starting point of the Melgarejo trail to commence our hike.
Over the course of this seven-hour journey, we will trace the path of the notable Bolivian politician Mariano Melgarejo and learn about his intriguing history. Are you aware that he initiated the construction of this path due to his fears of an ancient curse?
As we navigate through the mountainous terrain, take in a breathtaking view of Potosí and the Cerro Rico. This mountain, once home to one of the largest silver deposits in history, holds fascinating stories. Our route also includes a visit to the Portaretrato Cave, where we will take a moment to relax and enjoy a well-earned picnic.
After our break, we will resume our hike, exploring local vegetation and wildlife, including striking cacti among other species. By the end of our trek, we’ll return you to your hotels around 4 pm.
