Melgarejo Trail Hike
After picking you up from your hotel in Potosí at 8 am, we will head to the beginning of the Melgarejo trail to set off on our hike. During the seven-hour hike, we will follow the footsteps of the famous Bolivian politician Mariano Melgarejo and learn about his history, including the construction of this road due to an ancient curse.
We will traverse the mountains to discover a panoramic view of Potosí and Cerro Rico, which housed one of the most important silver reserves in the world. The route includes a visit to the Portaretrato Cave before taking a break for a picnic.
Afterwards, we will continue the hike, observing local plants and wildlife such as various cacti. At the end of the hike, we will drop you off at your hotels by around 4 pm.
Hotel pick up
This tour includes pick-up from hotels in central Potosí. If you are staying in nearby villages, you will need to make your own way to the meeting point on Calle Lanza.
