Potosí Mines Tour
When booking, you can choose between two options. Both tours begin and end on Ayacucho Street, in the center of Potosí:
Kunty Mine Tour
This option takes you to one of the most famous modern mines in Potosí. After a 20-minute drive, we arrive at Cerro Chico, where the Kunty mine is located. We will enter the gallery to visit one of its levels and learn about the mining culture. The deity El Tío will be discussed, along with the offerings of alcohol, tobacco, or coca leaves. Photos of the mining wagons can be taken before returning to the minibus to go back to the starting point.
Candelaria Mine Tour
The Candelaria mine is older and more traditional, dating back to the seventeenth century and located approximately 20 minutes away. The tour begins at a small mining museum, providing insights into the miners' daily life, including their food, schedules, and tools, notably coca leaves used to cope with altitude. We will tour the galleries for two hours, observing ancient ritual offerings and the interconnected tunnels. The return to the surface will be via the Rosario mine before heading back to the vehicle.
