Learn about the prosperous past of the Villa Imperial de Potosí on this guided tour of the fascinating National Mint of Bolivia!
Tour of the National Mint of Bolivia
We'll meet at the time of your choice in front of the National Mint of Bolivia.
Upon entering, visitors will notice the majestic entrance cloister, part of the 5 courtyards of the National Mint of Bolivia. A significant feature is a giant mask with a mocking smile situated above the arcades of the courtyard.
The tour includes exploration of various rooms where the historical significance of the institution during the viceregal era is addressed, highlighting how the Villa Imperial de Potosí became one of the richest cities in the world.
The museum features paintings, numismatic collections, smelting furnaces, and machines that were used to mint valuable coins. Visitors will see examples of reales, marks, and gold and silver coins.
Concluding the tour, there will be a visit to the gift store, where souvenirs in brass, copper, or silver can be purchased, and an opportunity to stamp your own coin!
After an hour and a half tour, we'll say our goodbyes at the exit of the museum.
