Day Trip Details
We will depart from the former bus terminal on Avenida Universitaria to begin the excursion to the Salar de Uyuni salt flats. After arriving at the Uyuni bus station, we will board an off-roading vehicle to visit the salt flats.
The first stop will be the Uyuni train cemetery, where we will find the remains of Bolivia's first railroads from the 19th century.
Next, we will visit Colchani, the gateway to the Uyuni salt flats, to observe the salt eyes, which are holes where groundwater reaches boiling point due to the earth's heat.
We will then stop at the Playa Blanca hotel, constructed entirely from salt blocks, which includes a museum and restaurant. A lunch featuring seasonal regional products will be served to recharge before continuing to Plaza de las Banderas, known for its flagpoles with flags from around the world. Remember to bring your flag to mark your visit.
Our last stop will be Incahuasi Island, where we will see large cacti and petrified coral formations, ideal for taking photos. Finally, we will return to the bus station in Uyuni and journey back to Potosí, with arrival scheduled for midnight after a 19.5-hour day of adventure.
