Tour Details
We'll meet at Via Carlo Rosini, 21 to begin our guided tour of Pozzuoli.
The tour will start with a walk to Villa Avellino, a Centenary Park featuring remnants of ancient Roman cisterns that signify the city's hydraulic and architectural significance during the imperial era.
Next, we'll proceed to the San Guiseppe slope, leading to the Macellum, or the Temple of Serapis, recognized for the discovery of a statue of the Egyptian god during excavations, illustrating examples of Bradyseism in the area.
Afterward, we'll visit the fishermen's dock and the Via Napoli seafront promenade, historically important as it marks the Greeks' first arrival in the colony of Pozzuoli.
Finally, we'll ascend to the Rione Terra rock, where we'll discuss the neighborhood's history, including the evacuation on March 2, 1970, due to Bradyseism, and explore the area’s recent renewal.
The tour concludes after a 2-hour walking experience, returning to our meeting point for farewells.
