Maio Island Day Trip

At 5:30 am, we will pick you up at your hotel in Praia to travel to the Santiago Island port. There, you must present your ferry ticket to board the ferry to Maio Island. After a 2-hour crossing, we will arrive at the Porto Inglês dock in southern Maio Island. Upon disembarking, we will visit the salt mines interpretation center to learn how the salt trade contributed to the island's development.

Next, we will pass through the towns of Morro, Calheta, and Morrinho to admire local crafts and landscapes, with the dunes of Morrinho providing excellent photo opportunities. The tour continues to the village of Pedro Vaz for a traditional Cape Verdean lunch featuring various local specialties. After lunch, we will visit Vila do Maio, the island's capital, to see the San José fortress and the church of Our Lady of Light.

The tour concludes with a brief stop at Bitchirotcha Beach, followed by a return to Porto Inglês dock for the ferry back to Santiago. We will return to your hotel in Praia by 7:30 pm.
