Enjoy an exciting hiking route to Monte Tchota and Pico de Antonia, the highest points on Santiago island, with this trip from Praia.

Monte Tchota and Pico de Antonia Hike

At the specified time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Praia and head to Rui Vaz. In this mountain village, located in a valley, we will start our hike through the interior of Santiago island. Bring your camera for memorable views.

The first stop will be at a cheese factory to learn about the production process. The 4-hour hike takes us to the highest points of Santiago island, starting with Mount Tchota at 2600 ft, which is part of a renowned Natural Park.

The top of Mount Tchota features a unique microclimate, cooler than other areas on the island. We will discuss the native fauna and biodiversity of the area before continuing to the summit of Pico de Antonia at 4500 feet.

From the highest peak, we will enjoy panoramic views of San Jorge Valley and potentially spot Maio and Fogo islands if visibility is good. A picnic lunch will be served at the summit. After lunch, we will return to Rui Vaz and drive back to Praia, arriving at your hotel after approximately 7.5 hours.
