Break out your boots and go hiking in the Serra de Malagueta Natural Park! Here you'll cut through the island vegetation and discover Gongon and Espinho Branco, two of the island's most traditional villages.
Serra de Malagueta Hike
We'll pick you up at the indicated time from your accommodation in Praia and head to the Serra de Malagueta Natural Park, one hour away. The view of volcanic Fogo Island will be an unforgettable sight.
Over the course of three hours, we'll hike through the national park, exploring its greenery and the Main River before reaching our first stop: Gongon. In this village, locals will share the ancient traditions of Santiago Island that are still preserved.
Continuing our exploration, we’ll hike to Espinho Branco, where stunning sea views await. Here, you will meet the rabelados, a religious community living in isolation since 1942, and learn about their reasons for this lifestyle.
After the hike, a picnic lunch will be provided, including sandwiches, water, juice, fruit, and dessert. We will then return to Praia by bus, concluding the excursion after 5 hours of activity.
