On this day trip to the Valdés Peninsula from Puerto Madryn, you'll admire the beautiful Magellanic penguins of the Estancia San Lorenzo. Plus, you can take a boat ride to watch the southern right whales.
Activity Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Madryn and head to the Valdés Peninsula, a World Heritage Site.
After a 1-hour road trip, we'll reach Puerto Pirámides, where you can go on a boat ride for southern right whale-watching independently. You'll observe these cetaceans as they visit the Valdés Peninsula coastline.
Next, we'll proceed to the Estancia San Lorenzo , known for its colony of Magellanic penguins. A 9.3-mile (1.5-kilometer) hike through the penguin colony will be guided, where you'll learn about their behavior and diet. After the hike, you will have 1 hour to have lunch at the ranch.
Following lunch, we'll continue the tour in a truck through the Valdés Peninsula in the Punta Norte area, where you may spot fur seals, southern elephant seals, and occasionally killer whales depending on the season.
After visiting Punta Norte, we'll head to the Carlos Ameghino Interpretation Center for further insights into the fauna and flora of the Valdés Peninsula. Finally, we’ll return to your hotel in Puerto Madryn, concluding this 10-hour day trip.
Animal Spotting
Valdés Peninsula is notable for viewing Magellanic penguins, Atlantic killer whales, and southern right whales. However, animal sightings vary due to factors such as weather and the breeding cycles of species.
