Visit South America's largest colony of Patagonian penguins in Punta Tombo, the migration site chosen by the birds for mating, laying eggs and raising their young.
Patagonia Penguin Watching
After picking you up from your hotel in Puerto Madryn, we will go directly to Punta Tombo, the premier location for viewing penguins in South America, allowing visitors to walk among them. In the visitor centre, you will learn about the Patagonian Penguins and their returning ecosystem.
In addition to penguins, a variety of local wildlife can be observed, including guancanos, Patagonian mara, rheas, and foxes. After some free time for lunch, we will proceed to the coast of Isla Escondida, known for its population of elephant seals, the largest seal species, with adults measuring up to 5 meters and weighing 4 tonnes.
Following a day of exploring the area's biodiversity, we will return to your hotel in Puerto Madryn.
Important information
Penguins migrate to Punta Tombo to mate and lay eggs from September to February. However, animal sightings are unpredictable, and it is not guaranteed to see the species at all times during the season.
Whale watching
If you wish to see more of Argentina's wildlife, consider a whale watching tour in Valdes Peninsula, an area recognized for its high concentrations of marine life in the Southern Hemisphere.
