Activity Overview
After picking you up from your accommodation in Puerto Madryn, we will embark on a direct journey to Punta Tombo, the premier destination in South America for observing penguins up close. You will have the unique opportunity to walk among them! At the visitor center, you will discover captivating insights about the Patagonian Penguins and the ecosystem they return to each breeding season.
In addition to the penguins, this region of Argentina is rich in diverse wildlife, featuring guanacos, which are akin to llamas, Patagonian maras, rheas, and foxes, all of which you will learn to identify. Following some free time for lunch, we will continue north to the coastline of Isla Escondida: an area renowned for its sizable population of elephant seals, the largest seals globally, with adults reaching up to 5 meters in length and weighing around 4 tons.
After a fulfilling day immersed in the area's remarkable biodiversity, we will return to your hotel in Puerto Madryn.
Key Information
The penguins are seen migrating to Punta Tombo for breeding and egg-laying from September to February. Nonetheless, wildlife behavior can be unpredictable, and sightings are not guaranteed at all times during this period.
