Join us on a day trip from Puerto Madryn along the Valdés Peninsula to spot various species of animals native to this area of Patagonia.
Day Trip Details
After pickup at your hotel in Puerto Madryn, we will head to the Valdes Peninsula nature conservation area. A stop will be made to pay the entrance fee to the reserve before reaching the Carlos Ameghino isthmus visitor center. This area connects the Argentine province of Chubut to the Valdés Peninsula. Next, we will visit the village of Puerto Pirámides, where between June 15 and December 15, you can opt for a boat trip for whale watching. Those not taking the boat will have free time in Puerto Pirámides.
Then we will proceed to Caleta Valdés, making up to three stops depending on the season: at the cove, at Punta Cantor to see elephant seals and sea lions, and at the penguin colony from September to April for Magellanic penguins. If conditions are favorable, killer whales may also be seen.
Continuing to Punta Norte, from September to December, we can see elephant seals, and from December to May, a colony of sea lions. Conditions permitting, we may also spot killer whales. Lunch will be on your own, with a return to Puerto Madryn scheduled 10 hours after pickup.
