On this birdwatching tour on the Carretera Austral from Puerto Montt , participants will observe various bird species along one of Chile's main land routes.

The tour begins with a pickup at 11:00 am from your hotel in Puerto Montt. We will drive along the Carretera Austral to identify birds inhabiting the natural environment of this renowned Chilean road.

We will first pass by the fishermen's coves of Coihuin, Chamiza, and Piedra Azul before arriving at the Pichi Quillaipe sector. The journey continues to the beach resort of Pelluco, where we will take a walk to observe native birds.

If conditions allow, we expect to see endemic birds such as black-necked swans, southern pylons, and gulls. The tour includes a visit to the Santa Cruz de Pelluco church, followed by a route along the Carretera Austral to Piedra Azul, where we will make a brief stop for a drink.

We will then return via Chilean Route 7, where we aim to spot additional species such as the cahuil and chucao. Participants will learn to differentiate these birds through their plumage, beak color, and vocalizations.

Finally, we will return to your hotel in Puerto Montt, arriving at approximately 4:00 pm.
