Culinary Tour of Puerto Plata

Our adventure kicks off at 9 am on General Gregorio Luperón Avenue, where we'll embark on a gastronomic journey through Puerto Plata. Experience the city’s rich cultural heritage while sampling some of its most iconic flavors.

The first stop will take us to the city’s bustling market, renowned for its variety of exotic fruits and vegetables native to the Dominican Republic. Here, we’ll explore the unique spices commonly used on the island and gain insights into the cultivation of tobacco. Following this, we’ll head to a local gallery that showcases jewelry crafted from the national gemstone, Larimar.

Continuing our exploration, we will delve into the island's spiritual practices, including the intriguing elements of Dominican voodoo. Our next destination is the historical district, rich in traditional barbershops and food vendors. One such vendor will offer us the chance to taste the beloved chulitos made from yucca filled with meat or cheese. We will also enjoy some artisan ice cream in the town square.

Further along, we’ll visit the Casa Museo Gregorio Luperón, where the area's history unfolds. To wrap up our culinary adventure, we’ll partake in a hearty traditional Dominican meal prepared by a local family, allowing us to indulge in the flavors of the Caribbean!

The tour will conclude at 1 pm back at our initial meeting point.
