Puerto Plata Food Tour

At 9 am, we'll meet at General Gregorio Luperón Avenue to begin a food tour of Puerto Plata. The tour will highlight some of its most traditional flavors while providing insights into the culture and history of the city.

The first stop will be Puerto Plata's most popular market, where we will explore the exotic fruits and vegetables of the Dominican Republic, learn about the spices used frequently on the island, and see how tobacco is grown. We will then visit a community gallery featuring jewelry made with the national gemstone: Larimar.

Next, we will learn about the country's religion and the notable Dominican voodoo. The tour continues into the historic district, rich with traditional barbershops and food stalls. Here, we will taste the famous chulitos made from yucca and stuffed with meat or cheese, as well as handmade ice cream in the main square.

We will also visit the Casa Museo Gregorio Luperón to learn about Puerto Plata's history. The tour will conclude with a traditional Dominican lunch at the home of a local family, where we will enjoy Caribbean specialties. The tour ends at 1 pm at the starting point.
