Discover the colonial past of the Dominican Republic capital and feel the historical value of its main monuments with this Santo Domingo City Tour. You'll also visit one of the most famous natural jewels of the country, the Tres Ojos National Park.
Santo Domingo City Tour
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Puerto Plata at the appointed time and head to the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo. We'll arrive in this city of almost 4 million inhabitants after a 3 hour 30 minute journey.
The tour will start in the Colonial City, the oldest area of the capital, where we'll see historical buildings including the Columbus Lighthouse, the National Pantheon, and the Ozama Fortress, the oldest fort built by Europeans in America.
Next, we'll visit the Primate Cathedral of America, the first cathedral of the American continent, built by order of Carlos V. This site is known for its Gothic architecture.
We'll then walk along Damas Street and El Conde Street, before stopping at the Alcazar de Diego Colón to discuss its 16th-century historical importance. The day will include a traditional Dominican meal.
To conclude the day, we'll explore the Tres Ojos National Park, an underground cave system that features three natural lakes. After our visit, we'll return to Puerto Plata, arriving at your hotel 12 hours after the pick-up.
