The island of Chiloé is a significant destination in Chile. On our Chacao, Ancud & the Beaches of Chiloé Trip, you will explore its cities, the Puñihuil islets, and potentially see penguins.

Chacao, Ancud & the Beaches of Chiloé Trip

We begin by picking you up from your hotel and traveling to the village of Pargua. From there, we will take a ferry to the island of Chiloé.

During the ferry ride, enjoy the landscapes of the Chacao Channel and observe local wildlife, such as pelicans and sea lions. Upon arrival, we will explore Chacao's streets and view its iconic larch wood houses and churches, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Next, we will visit Caulín, a bay on the northern coast known for its beach and marine life, including oysters and pearl farms.

We will then board a boat to the Puñihuil Islets to see both Magellanic and Humboldt penguins, the only place globally where these two species coexist. Information about their lifestyle and habitat will be shared during this visit.

Our journey continues to Ancud, the island's capital until 1982, where we will visit the Regional Museum and San Antonio Fort to learn about Chiloé's history during the Chilean War of Independence.

You will have 1 hour of free time to have lunch in Ancud, with the municipal market offering local cuisine options.

Finally, we will return you to your hotel, 11 hours after departure.

The trip includes pickup from central hotels in Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt at these times:

For accommodations outside these areas, we will arrange an alternate meeting point. This activity is not available for cruise passengers due to the inability to pick up at the port.
