Chiloe Island: Chacao, Ancud & Puñihuil Penguins

At 8:30 am, we will depart from Puerto Varas to the village of Pargua, where we will take a ferry to Chacao, a small village on Chiloé.

From Chacao, we will proceed to the Islotes de Puñihuil Natural Monument, where Humboldt and Patagonian penguins breed. A boat ride is available to observe these penguins and other species, but it is not included in the excursion price.

Next, we will visit Ancud, the former capital of the island until 1982. Here, we will explore the Regional Museum and Fort San Antonio to learn about the colonial history of Chiloé.

After viewing the cannons at the fort, we will visit the municipal market, where you will have an hour of free time to sample local foods from various stalls.

We will return to Puerto Varas, with an expected arrival time of 6:30 pm.
