Chiloe Island: Chacao, Ancud & Puñihuil Penguins
At 8:30 am, we'll leave from Puerto Varas to the village of Pargua. There, we'll take a ferry to Chacao, a small village on the island of Chiloé.
From Chacao, we will travel to the Islotes de Puñihuil Natural Monument, where Humboldt and Patagonian penguins breed. This protected area also attracts red-legged cormorants and kelp gulls. We will check out these animals on a boat ride, which is not included in the excursion price.
Our next stop will be in Ancud, where we will visit the Regional Museum and Fort San Antonio, learning about Chiloé's colonial history. After observing the fort's cannons, you will have one hour of free time in the municipal market to try local foods.
Finally, we'll return to Puerto Varas, with arrival scheduled for 6:30 pm.
