Chiloe Island: Chacao, Ancud & Puñihuil Penguins
At 8:30 am, we'll depart from Puerto Varas to the village of Pargua, where we will take a ferry to Chacao, a village on Chiloé. From Chacao, we'll proceed to the Islotes de Puñihuil Natural Monument, a protected area where Humboldt and Patagonian penguins breed. A boat ride, not included in the excursion price, will allow us to observe these penguins and other species like the red-legged cormorant.
Next, we will visit Ancud, the capital of the island until 1982, where we will explore the Regional Museum and Fort San Antonio. After viewing the fort's cannons, there will be an hour of free time at the municipal market for local handicrafts and gastronomy.
We will return to Puerto Varas, with an expected arrival at 6:30 pm.
