Chiloe Island: Chacao, Ancud & Puñihuil Penguins
At 8:30 am, we'll leave from Puerto Varas and travel to the village of Pargua. We will take a ferry to Chacao, a small village on the island of Chiloé.
From Chacao, we'll visit the Islotes de Puñihuil Natural Monument, a protected area where Humboldt and Patagonian penguins breed. A boat ride is available to observe these animals, but it is not included in the excursion price.
Next, we will stop in Ancud, the former capital of the island until 1982. We will learn about Chiloé's colonial history at the Regional Museum and visit Fort San Antonio.
After the fort visit, we will proceed to the municipal market, offering local handicrafts and foods sourced from both land and sea. You will have an hour of free time to try local delicacies at the food stalls.
We will return to Puerto Varas, with an arrival scheduled for 6:30 pm.
