Chiloe Island: Chacao, Ancud & Puñihuil Penguins
At 8:30 am, we'll leave from Puerto Varas and head to the village of Pargua. There, we'll take a ferry to Chacao, a small village on the island of Chiloé.
From Chacao we'll travel to the Islotes de Puñihuil Natural Monument, a protected area where Humboldt and Patagonian penguins breed. This area also attracts species such as the red-legged cormorant and the kelp gull. We'll observe these animals on a boat ride, not included in the excursion price.
Next, we will stop in Ancud, the island's capital until 1982. We'll visit the Regional Museum and the well-preserved Fort San Antonio.
After visiting the fort, we'll proceed to the municipal market, where you'll have an hour of free time to explore local handicrafts and foods sourced from both land and sea.
Finally, we'll return to Puerto Varas, with arrival scheduled for 6:30 pm.
