On this complete excursion through the Los Lagos region, we'll tour the city of Maullín and enjoy bird watching in Quenuir Bajo, focusing on Chile's main migratory species.

At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel and head south toward Maullín. Upon arrival, we'll tour the main square and the church.

We will participate in an introductory talk about the wetlands of the WHSRN: the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network. Following this, we'll head to the Maullín pier to take a boat to Quenuir Bajo.

From the pier, a short walk will lead us to the Las Lajas wetland. This area hosts a significant biodiversity, with 53% of Chile's migratory birds. We will use binoculars and telephoto lenses to observe these species. Depending on weather and season, we may see flamingos, coscoroba swans, imperial and rock cormorants, black-necked swans, curlews, and pilpilens. We will stop for a snack that includes a cereal bar, a sandwich, and a drink, with choices of juice, tea, or coffee.

After the snack, we'll proceed to the Quenuir Lagoon for more bird watching, concluding at the restaurant La Picá del Flamenco, where we will enjoy three Chilean empanadas filled with meat, cheese, and seafood. After the meal, we will return to the pier and take the boat back to Maullín, arriving at your hotel eleven hours after pickup.
