Exploration of Altas Cumbres Tunnels & Mina Clavero

Your day begins at 7 am with a convenient pickup from your accommodation in Villa Carlos Paz. We will embark on our journey toward the western region of the Argentine province of Córdoba.

As we travel a distance of 279.6 miles (450 km) along winding mountain roads that ascend to heights of 6,561.5 ft (2,000 meters), we'll navigate through the remarkable tunnels of the High Sierras. Ever wonder about the construction of these tunnels carved into the mountains? What significance do they hold? We will uncover these questions while enjoying the illumination provided by the morning sun over the stunning landscape.

During our ascent through the Altas Cumbres, keep an eye out for the magnificent Andean condors, the majestic birds that soar in this part of South America. The higher we delve into the mountain passes, the more likely we are to encounter these impressive creatures, whose wingspan can extend to 10 ft (3 meters), gliding effortlessly through the air.

Continuing on, we make our way to the charming town of Mina Clavero. After taking in the surrounding scenery, you will have time to enjoy lunch independently. In the afternoon, we'll head back, witnessing the breathtaking sunset over the Altas Cumbres – an unforgettable experience.

Your adventure concludes with a return to your hotel in Villa Carlos Paz around 7 pm.
