Colca Canyon 2-Day Journey

Day 1: Puno - Chivay

Your adventure begins with a pickup at your Puno hotel between 6:15 and 6:30 am as we set out towards Chivay, located approximately 300 kilometers (186 miles) away. The route takes us through the breathtaking highlands, where wetlands, lagoons, and plains create a picturesque setting. Along the way, be on the lookout for various wildlife including vicuñas, llamas, and alpacas, as well as a diverse array of birds such as flamingos and guallatas.

Our journey continues to Patahuasi, marking our entry into Colca Canyon. Here, we will pass by the remnants of the extinct Chucura volcano and stop at a renowned viewpoint to admire a sweeping view of the Cordillera Occidental from an elevation of 4,910 meters (over 16,100 feet).

By around 1 to 1:30 pm, we will arrive at a hotel in Chivay where lunch will be at your own expense. Later, dinner will also be on your own at this location, followed by an overnight stay.

During the free time after lunch, consider exploring Chivay on your own or indulging in the town's famous thermal baths.

Day 2: Chivay - Cruz del Condor - Chivay - Arequipa

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, our day begins with a visit to the Cruz del Condor, regarded as the most remarkable viewpoint in Colca Canyon. Here, you'll have two hours to soak in the breathtaking scenery and, with a bit of luck, witness the majestic condors take to the sky!

Following this, we will travel back by bus to Chivay, passing through enchanting Andean villages such as Pinchollo, Maca, and Yanque. The route includes picturesque terraces, archaeological sites, and the narrow trails within the Colca Canyon. Did you know it is considered one of the deepest canyons worldwide?

Arriving in Chivay allows for an hour of free time for lunch, and around 1 pm, we will proceed toward Arequipa, with an expected arrival time between 4:30 and 5 pm.

Accommodation

This experience includes one night's stay with breakfast in Chivay. During the booking process, you can select the accommodation type that suits your needs:

In all options mentioned, the accommodation will be arranged in a double room.

Hotel Pickup

The tour includes pickup from hotels in central Puno. If your accommodation is situated outside this area, you will need to make your way to Calle Jiron Arequipa, conveniently located near the central Plaza de Armas.
