Want to learn about the beliefs and traditions of ancient cultures? Don't miss this excursion to Cutimbo that will lead you to discover the remains of important ceremonial monuments and the secrets they hide.

Cutimbo Tour

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Puno at the selected time and take the Puno-Moquegua Interoceanic Highway towards Cutimbo, an archaeological complex located on two plateaus and crowned by ancient stone constructions.

Cutimbo was occupied for several centuries by the Incas and other civilizations up to 8,000 years old, such as the Lupaca and the Qolla. Its strategic location contributed to its significance among pre-Columbian cultures.

During the tour, we will explore various buildings within Cutimbo, including multiple chulpas, or funerary monuments, scattered across the plateau. The diverse shapes and sizes of these chulpas reflect the architectural heritage of the cultures that inhabited the area.

As we walk among the constructions, we will observe enigmatic figures of animals such as monkeys, felines, and snakes, discussing the theories experts have regarding their meanings.

We will also visit the ushno, a ceremonial temple constructed from volcanic rock situated in the central part of the plateau, and the cremation altar, where calcinated bones of humans and animals were discovered.

After the tour of the Cutimbo ruins, we will return to Puno and drop you off at your hotel approximately four to five hours after pickup.
