Want to learn about the beliefs and traditions of ancient cultures? Don't miss this excursion to Cutimbo to discover important ceremonial monuments and their secrets.

Cutimbo Tour

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Puno at the selected time and take the Puno-Moquegua Interoceanic Highway towards Cutimbo, an archaeological complex on two plateaus with ancient stone constructions.

Cutimbo was occupied by various civilizations, including the Incas, and is believed to date back up to 8,000 years, with significant influence from the Lupaca and Qolla cultures. Its strategic location added to its value in pre-Columbian times.

During the tour, we will explore the buildings of Cutimbo and observe several chulpas, or funerary monuments, which vary in shape and size, reflecting the architectural heritage of the area's cultures.

As we walk among the structures, we'll notice some featuring enigmatic figures of animals such as monkeys, felines, and snakes, with theories from experts discussed during the tour.

Additionally, we will see the ushno, a ceremonial temple made of volcanic rock, and the cremation altar where calcinated bones were discovered.

After exploring the Cutimbo ruins, we will return to Puno and drop you off at your hotel four to five hours after pickup.
