La Paz & Tiwanaku Day Trip

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Puno at the indicated time and head towards the border between Peru and Bolivia, located in Desaguadero. After crossing, we will proceed to the capital.

After a 1 hour journey, we will arrive at the archaeological site of Tiwanaku, a significant pre-Columbian culture in Bolivia. Here, we will observe constructions such as the temple of Kalasasaya, the pyramid of Akapana, and the Gate of the Sun.

Additionally, we will admire the ´Queros´ or ceremonial vessels and the walls decorated with human faces called Huaco-portraits. During the trip, we will learn about the Tiwanaku empire, which extended through the central Andes to Lake Titicaca.

We will then travel for an hour to La Paz. Here, we’ll have a guided visit to colonial quarters, 16 de Julio Avenue, and Mariscal Santa Cruz Avenue. We will explore the historic centre and visit the 16th century church of San Francisco, the neoclassical cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Paz, and Plaza Murillo.

Next, we will go to the convent of Santo Domingo and the Witches' Market, rich in mystical and esoteric objects.

Upon concluding our trip, we will cross back to Peru and drop you off at your hotel in Puno after 10 to 11 hours.
