With this Day Trip from Puno, you'll discover the cultural and historical centre of Bolivia. Explore the fascinating locations of La Paz and Tiwanaku.

La Paz & Tiwanaku Day Trip

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Puno at the indicated time and head towards the border between Peru and Bolivia in Desaguadero. After a 1 hour journey, we'll arrive at the archaeological site of Tiwanaku, notable for its significant constructions such as the temple of Kalasasaya, the pyramid of Akapana, and the Gate of the Sun.

We’ll admire the‘Queros’ or ceremonial vessels and the walls decorated with Huaco-portraits. During the trip to Tiwanaku, we’ll learn about the Tiwanaku empire, which extended through the central Andes to Lake Titicaca.

Afterward, we'll continue for an hour to La Paz. Here, we'll take a guided visit to the colonial quarters, including 16 de Julio Avenue and Mariscal Santa Cruz Avenue. We'll explore the historic centre, visit the 16th-century church of San Francisco, the neoclassical cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Paz, and the Plaza Murillo.

Next, we'll visit the convent of Santo Domingo and the Witches' Market, known for its mystical and esoteric objects. Upon concluding our trip, we will cross the border back to Peru and drop you off at your hotel in Puno after 10 to 11 hours.
