3-Day Adventure: La Paz & Uyuni Salt Flats

Day 1: Puno to La Paz

Join us for an exciting escapade! Our adventure begins at 9 am when we collect you from your hotel in Puno. Following this, we will cross from Peru into Bolivia. On our way to La Paz, you can enjoy a leisurely lunch at your discretion.

By approximately 3 pm, we will arrive in the vibrant capital of Bolivia. Here, you will experience the renowned cable car system, the largest of its kind in South America, offering stunning aerial views over the city and leading us to its urban core.

We’ll dive into the history during a brief guided exploration of the colonial district, wandering along 16 de Julio and Mariscal Santa Cruz avenues. You’ll encounter the Church of San Francisco and Murillo Square, where notable structures such as the Cathedral of Our Lady of La Paz and the Legislative and Government Palace stand proud.

Once the tour concludes, you’ll have free time to enjoy dinner at your leisure before we depart by bus to Uyuni at 8 pm.

Day 2: Uyuni Salt Flats Exploration

Awaken to a new day! We will arrive at Uyuni early in the morning and take a short stroll to a local eatery for breakfast on your own. Following this, we will board a jeep and venture to the breathtaking Uyuni Salt Flats, the largest salt desert worldwide. During our ride, we will pause at the Uyuni Train Cemetery, an outdoor museum showcasing Bolivia's first locomotives.

Our next stop will be the town of Colchani, situated adjacent to the salt flats. Here, you’ll discover the salt extraction process and visit the Playa Blanca Hotel, uniquely constructed entirely from salt. You will relish a traditional regional meal featuring a starter, main dish, and a local infusion before we set off towards Incahuasi Island, located in the very heart of the salt flats. Prepare to be amazed by the sight of towering cacti!

At Incahuasi, you will have free time to capture stunning photographs amidst the extraordinary landscape before we return to Uyuni. Enjoy additional free time here to unwind, shop, and have dinner at your convenience. We will regroup at 8 pm to take you to the bus terminal for your journey back to La Paz.

Day 3: Return from La Paz via Pomata and Juli

We will arrive in La Paz at around 5 am and transfer you onto another bus to Desaguadero for re-entering Peru. There, you can enjoy breakfast independently before we travel to the charming town of Pomata. Upon arrival, we’ll explore the stunning Santiago Apostol Church, one of the area’s most remarkable religious sites, adorned with striking Cusquenian art.

Next, we will head to Juli, referred to as Little Rome due to its abundance of religious architecture. This town played a significant role in the colonial evangelization efforts. The visit may include the Church of San Juan de Letrán or Our Lady of the Assumption, depending on availability.

After exploring these captivating sites, we will return to Puno, where we expect to drop you off at your hotel around 1 pm.
