Trip to the Uros Islands & Taquile

Explore the serene waters of Lake Titicaca and immerse yourself in the unique customs of the Uros people on the floating islands, as well as the stunning Taquile Island.

Tour Overview

We will commence our journey with a hotel pickup at the arranged time, proceeding to the port in Puno. Upon arrival, we will embark on a boat for an exhilarating ride across Lake Titicaca, recognized as the highest navigable lake in the world, perched at an altitude of 12,500 feet (3,810 meters).

The first destination on our Lake Titicaca tour will be the renowned floating Uros Islands. After disembarking, we will traverse one of the islands to meet the Uru community residing here. The locals will share insights into their pre-Inca heritage, one of the most ancient cultures in the Andean region, while we take in the remarkable artificial archipelago they inhabit. Interestingly, these islands are constructed from a plant named Totora.

Continuing our voyage, we will make our way to Taquile Island, the largest island on Lake Titicaca, enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding lake and mountains. Upon arrival at Taquile, we will immerse ourselves in the local culture as we learn about the intricate weaving techniques used by the islanders to create their renowned textiles.

Following our cultural exploration, we will have a chance to refuel with a traditional lunch (optional) before bidding farewell to the islands of Lake Titicaca.

At the conclusion of the tour, we will return you to your hotel in Puno, marking a total duration of approximately 8 hours.

The tour includes pickup service from hotels in central Puno. If you are accommodated elsewhere, please make your way to the meeting point on Jiron Arequipa Street, conveniently close to the Plaza de Armas, at the scheduled time.
